Mary Ellen “Mimi” Dundon’s needs began to change. After becoming ill, she began using a wheelchair. The home she was living in at the time couldn’t accommodate her needs so she was moved into a nursing home. The family began looking for other options when a friend recommended Heritage Christian Services. Mimi now lives in a one-story, fully accessible home operated by Heritage Christian Services where she can age-in-place with peace of mind. There she can do all of the things that she enjoys, including painting. Mimi’s family finds tremendous comfort in knowing that she is well cared for and will be for the rest of her life.

More than half of those we support in neighborhood homes are living with medical complexities and over 60% are age 50 or older. And while we’re encouraged by the medical advances that have contributed to extended life expectancies, we are facing an imminent challenge: many of the homes that were once considered state-of-the-art are no longer adequate as people age.
Case for SupportTo make it possible for people to remain in their homes through every stage of life, we plan to build four, fully accessible homes and significantly remodel eight existing homes. Heritage Christian is calling this vital initiative our Homes with Heart campaign. Make no mistake, this is not merely a campaign to update and build residential homes. This is about ensuring that those we support may be afforded the same high-quality options to age in place and receive the end-of-life care at home that you and I want for ourselves and our loved ones. This is about ensuring that Mimi, Andy and others like them continue to be surrounded by loved ones in their cherished homes – homes designed to support the highest level of caregiving when it’s need most.
This is about creating homes with heart. Can you help?
