Jenna DiLaura Finds a Home for Life (Aug 2024)

By Mark Zawacki

No matter the phase of life people we support are in, we want to provide them the caring, comfortable and familiar settings that they deserve, even through end-of-life care.

At age 28, Jenna DiLaura is the youngest of the six women who will be moving out of their current house into the new Golisano Foundation Home on Scribner Road in Penfield. It was 25 years ago that the DiLaura family first approached Heritage Christian Services with a request to support their daughter.

“25 years later, we continue to appreciate our relationship with the agency,” said Jenna’s father, Patrick DiLaura.

Jenna considers the staff at her current home to be her extended family.

“Jenna’s relationship with the staff speaks highly of the kinds of people who work there,” said Patrick. As for Jenna’s parents and sister, the new home also has benefits for them. “The new house is two miles closer to us, which makes it easier to pop in and see her. From a personal standpoint, it’s been a real positive.”

The staff will all be moving with her to the Golisano Foundation Home on Scribner Road, which Jenna was thrilled to peek at toward the end of construction, especially the new living room and sunroom where she can socialize with her housemates.

“Even though she is still pretty mobile, I find a lot of comfort knowing that when the day comes that Jenna’s needs change, she won’t have to move out,” said Patrick. “This campaign is an excellent opportunity to bring the community together for a great cause, and it fills my heart to see how many people have embraced it.”
