Maintaining Quality Standards (Nov. 2024)

By Mark Zawacki

At Heritage Christian Services, the quality standards we uphold for all residential programs we support ensure these homes go beyond meeting baseline safety regulations. We implement amenities like additional dishwashers and sinks, high-quality and durable flooring, wide hallways and doorways for wheelchair accessibility and much more to establish settings that have the look and feel of a home while still being able to support people as their needs change.

Our facilities team is responsible for ensuring each finished project meets our agency’s quality standards, and enough cannot be said for the incredible work they’ve done. The 12 homes included in the Homes with Heart campaign were each very different projects. Some were new builds, such as the homes on Scribner Road in Penfield and Names Road in Chili, while others needed significant renovation, such as the homes on Crittenden Road in Brighton and Hoover Road in Sanborn.

“We are so fortunate to have the skills that we have on the facilities team,” said Tim DeFeo, director of facilities. “The people on my team live the mission of this agency, and you see it every day in their work.”

Their work on renovating existing homes has allowed us to be more effective stewards of the money received for the campaign. The home we have purchased on Townline Road in North Tonawanda, for example, will undergo significant renovations before five gentlemen relocate there from their current home. These renovations, led by the Heritage Christian Services facilities team, will save the agency an estimated $500,000 vs. building a new home.

We are grateful for the facilities team’s contributions to the Homes with Heart campaign. We truly couldn’t have done it without them.
