More Green Spaces, More Fun (Oct. 2024)

By Mark Zawacki

Outdoor space is an important part of any home. From creating more areas for people to gather, to increased access to fresh air and opportunities for recreation, spending time outdoors can benefit a person’s mental and physical health.

Comfort and wellness are key to the Homes with Heart campaign. It is a priority for homes included in the campaign to come with plenty of outdoor space for people to enjoy. The six men moving into the home on Crittenden Road in Brighton, named in honor of the Larrabee Family gift in memory of David Larrabee, are especially excited about the 50,000-square feet of lawn and yard they can enjoy.

Not only will this expanded outdoor space benefit their health, but it also offers more space for them to enjoy their favorite outdoor pursuits. David King and his five housemates have lived together for many years, and all of them enjoy the outdoors.

“David is an expert when it comes to anything with machines,” said Austin Darling, who is the assistant manager at the home. “He can’t wait to have extra room to ride his bikes, and he’s also looking forward to having a bigger shed where he can work on them.”

With the help of our community partners, we can continue to establish homes that support the accessibility and wellbeing of people who choose our services, inside and out.
