The Vision of the FAITH Foundation Comes to Life at Hoover Road (July 2024)
By Chuck Collard
As Heritage Christian Services continues to grow, so does the challenge of providing services that can meet so many unique and changing needs. One reality our agency has had to confront is that over 60% of the people we support are 50 years of age and older, which means their physical needs are changing, and two-story homes simply aren’t as accessible.
That’s why we continue to be so thankful for Mike Wolf, the Wolf family and the families that made up the FAITH Foundation for their support of Heritage Christian Services. Their generosity is what brought us the home on Hoover Road in Sanborn, which was transferred to Heritage Christian Services in 1996 and renovated in 2023. The home is the blueprint of what a Homes with Heart home should be: one-story, wider hallways to accommodate mobility aides, and individual living spaces.
The support of community partners like the Wolf Family and the FAITH Foundation will impact the lives of many people well into the future. William Barcaro is one person who is benefiting from living in the newly renovated home on Hoover Road. When his physical needs began to change, his family worked with him to find an appropriate setting that could support care for him. In each one, he had to share a room with one, sometimes two, other people.
“Now, for the first time, William has his own space,” William’s sister, Sophie Casler, said at a recent ribbon cutting event at his home on Hoover Road. “We thank God that he has finally found a place where he has independence while also having staff who can support him.”
This is Homes with Heart’s power to transform people’s lives, and it is only possible with the support of community partners.
